Dailymotion Launches New Player as Part of Web Site Redesign

Dailymotion, one of the largest Web video sites in the world, today announced the launch of a new Web video player for the popular web site that now counts 66 million monthly users worldwide (comScore, Jan. 2010). The launch is part of a series of Web site advancements designed to offer a superior video entertainment experience for users, content partners and advertisers.

The chromeless player, which supports a load of over 30 million video views a day, was completely rewritten to be less resource intensive for faster loading and playback. The cleaner interface includes improved headers, larger buttons and more streamlined controls for easy Web video sharing. The new Hotspot features leads the player’s improved sharing capabilities. With “hotspot”, users specify an exact point within the video for play to commence when sending the link to friends through email or using social networks such as Facebook or Twitter.
