Cloud Computing Service Monitors Tornadoes and Other Global Events

NC4 Inc., provider of the Homeland Security Cloud™, stood up three special event programs this week to help provide its corporate and public sector customers with critical time-sensitive information on the U.S. Midwest tornadoes, Grimsvotn volcano in Iceland and the G8 Summit in Deauville, France.

Special Event Coverage for Tornadoes

Jim Montagnino, president and CEO of NC4, provided these details. “Over the last 48 hours, NC4 International Monitoring Centers issued 35 unique alerts detailing specific tornado touch-down events across 13 states, from Pennsylvania to California, providing customers with the most relevant, and up-to-date coverage available. In addition to these tornado-specific alerts, NC4 analysts disseminated detailed alerts of roadway closures, air travel disruptions, and power outages caused by these storms.”

Special Event Coverage for European Ash Cloud

NC4 has also been monitoring Iceland’s Grimsvotn eruption closely, issuing the first notice to customers less than one hour after the volcano began erupting. Advisories were issued for the northern areas of the UK, France and Spain warning of potential flight disruptions related to the eruption. NC4’s team of analysts released a detailed Situation Report on May 23 and again on May 25, providing customers with indepth information and analysis of the unfolding situation.

Special Event Coverage for Deauville G8 Meeting

In addition to these weather- and meteorological-related events, NC4 has been carefully following the G8 in Deauville, France, keeping a close watch on the protesters detained in Paris who had gathered to protest against the G8 summit. Other demonstrations against the summit are being planned in Paris, however, NC4 analysts do not anticipate another replay of the violent demonstrations as seen at previous venues, notably London, England and Seattle, Washington.
