Panasonic Installs Center Hung Display, Scoreboard and Ribbon Boards at New Pinnacle Bank Arena

Panasonic Eco Solutions North America announced that it has completed a project in the city of Lincoln, Nebraska as a part of the City’s new Pinnacle Bank Arena in the recently expanded West Haymarket entertainment, restaurant and residential district. The main key tenant of the Pinnacle Bank Arena is the University of Nebraska Men’s and Women’s Big10 basketball teams. The Panasonic solution includes the design and installation of a center-hung display and a 270 degree fascia ribbon which circles the arena between the upper and lower concourses. The project is located directly across from another recent LED display installation by Panasonic known as “The Cube”.

“Our new arena grand opening events were well received, and we are thrilled about the future for this venue,” said Tom Lorenz, Pinnacle Bank Arena’s General Manager. “Panasonic’s solution allows us to add more value by reaching spectators in a spectacular way and keeping the energy level up in the arena during live events.”

The project includes a new main, center-hung display comprised of four main 6mm video boards each measuring 22 feet wide and 16.5 feet tall in addition to four upper scoring 6mm displays with dimensions of 22 feet wide and 6.3 feet high. There are also four upper corner 10mm displays connecting the scoring video boards at the width of 9.4 feet and height of 6.3 feet. Finally, the center-hung features a lower halo 10mm display circling at 63 feet in length and 2.4 feet high.

Panasonic also installed a 20mm 270-degree fascia display extending 637.3 feet long and 2.6 feet high, a timing and scoring system that includes locker room clocks, shot clocks and hockey goal lights. Additionally, Panasonic provided ticket window LED displays, a 40 foot courtside scoring table LED display, four fixed digit vomitory timing and scoring displays, as well as an IPTV system featuring 260 flat panel displays with digital media players connected over an IP network and an IPTV head end system were installed.

“The Pinnacle Bank Arena project really gave Panasonic an opportunity to demonstrate its capabilities in providing a complete solution,” said Richard Ballard, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Panasonic Eco Solutions North America. “The ones that really benefit are the spectators, as the center hung display, the high definition scoreboard and the ribbon boards provide greater visibility of real-time statistics and allow sponsors a platform to reach and engage event attendees.”

Pinnacle Bank Arena is the cornerstone of Lincoln’s West Haymarket Redevelopment Project. The arena features 470,400 square feet and is a state-of-the-art multi-purpose venue that will offer year-round entertainment, including concerts, family shows, touring acts and sporting events. The facility started construction in September 2011 and just went through its grand opening this fall. Estimated annual attendance is 700,000.
