Datacenter Dynamics Selects RagingWire as a Finalist in Two Categories for Its 2014 North American Awards

RagingWire Data Centers, the nation’s premier data center provider and an NTT Communications group company, announced today that the company was named a finalist in two categories of the prestigious Datacenter Dynamics 2014 North American Awards.

RagingWire submitted entries in two categories this year, “Innovation in IT Optimization” and “Datacenter Special Assignment Team of the Year.” Both entries were selected as finalists by a distinguished panel of judges and will be recognized at the Datacenter Dynamics North American Awards Gala Ceremony in Gotham Hall, New York City on December 2, 2014. Over 300 industry professionals are expected to attend this black tie dinner to celebrate the shared successes of the North American data center market.

2014 is the second year for the Datacenter Dynamics North American Awards. RagingWire is proud to have been named a finalist in both 2013 and 2014. For the 2013 awards, RagingWire was named a finalist in the “Innovation in the Outsourced Environment” category. The company was selected for its patented approach to power delivery and enhanced customer experience in the multi-tenant data center colocation environment.

The annual Datacenter Dynamics Awards recognize and celebrate individual and team project excellence at a technical and business level across the data center world, from the largest mega-data center projects to container deployments in extreme locations. The annual awards are designed to recognize and reward companies and individuals exhibiting thought leadership, best practices, and innovation in the data center industry.

Below is a summary of RagingWire’s projects that were recognized by the 2014 Datacenter Dynamics Awards.

Innovations in IT Optimizations category — Branch Circuit Monitoring through DCIM
In order to enhance its customers’ experiences, RagingWire’s in-house IT and software development team created a software component interfacing directly with RagingWire’s network of branch circuit power meters that optimizes branch circuit monitoring and reporting. The team developed a scalable data collection module called the Multi-Distributed Architecture (MDA) which collects data across distributed environments into a central location. The MDA collects data at different intervals, giving more granularity to real-time data that can be used for billing, maintenance, operations, and capacity planning by the RagingWire facilities team and its customers. The MDA can be configured remotely through the N-Matrix(SM) Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) system. N-Matrix DCIM is RagingWire’s proprietary software, which integrates more than 20 infrastructure management applications and presents detailed reports to customers via an interactive online customer portal. This integrated system and associated procedures and reports resulted in significant cost savings and improved RagingWire’s data collection process while enhancing customer experience through more robust reporting and analytics.

“RagingWire seeks to deliver the best data center colocation customer experience in the industry,” said William Dougherty, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at RagingWire. “Our IT and software development teams have not only optimized our branch circuit monitoring and data collection process, but also given our customers the best visibility into their data center colocation infrastructure. We are proud to receive this recognition as part of the 2014 Datacenter Dynamics North American Awards.”

Datacenter Special Assignment Team of the Year category — In-house commissioning task force
With recently announced expansions of its existing campuses in Ashburn, Virginia and Sacramento, California, as well as planning entries into new markets in the United States, RagingWire identified an opportunity to improve the quality and speed of the critical commissioning process by establishing an in-house commissioning task force. This team developed a central process and comprehensive method of procedure (MOP) documentation to facilitate communication across functional areas, learn from past experiences to continually improve processes, implement changes to future efforts using industry best practices, and formalize a gold standard for an in-house commissioning process. RagingWire also plans to share its in-house commissioning processes with customers to demonstrate how these methodologies can be used to deliver 100% availability.

“We are excited to be named a finalist for Datacenter Dynamics 2014 North American Awards,” said Jason Weckworth, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of RagingWire. “The RagingWire in-house commissioning task force has significantly improved the commissioning workflow, contributing to our 100% availability and superior customer experience. The result is faster time to market, improved product quality, and delighted customers.”
