Appscio™, Inc., the developer of a unique open source, open architecture media processing framework with a plug-in mechanism for video and audio analytics, today announced a strategic partnership and technology development agreement with In-Q-Tel, the independent strategic investment firm that identifies innovative technology solutions to support the mission of the CIA and the broader U.S. Intelligence Community.
Appscio pioneered making video actionable and accessible via segmentation based upon metadata harvested from audio and video channels and from associated sensors. The Appscio(TM) Media Processing Framework (MPF) provides the basis for an extensible, service-oriented, open architecture for multimedia applications. This core technology, upon which the Appscio Video Information Management System is built, has broad applications for government and commercial users.
“We are excited to announce this application of Appscio’s technology to manage and search multimedia data for government clients and to join In-Q-Tel’s portfolio of innovative technology companies,” said Bob Marsh, CEO of Appscio. “This partnership allows us to demonstrate the power of the core Appscio Media Processing Framework by providing the government with a common platform for media services, accelerating our customer’s ability to exploit new algorithms and encouraging the rapid development of new applications.”
“Appscio’s technology is key to the development and exploitation of the next generation of media analytics,” said Troy M. Pearsall, Executive Vice President of Architecture and Engineering at In-Q-Tel. “Its open source architecture and ability to support true multi-modal (audio and video) algorithms makes the Appscio framework the clear choice for algorithm developers striving to radically improve the accuracy of these critical tools.”
