The American Education Corporation (AEC) today announced that it released A+(R) LearningLink(TM), a valid and reliable formative online assessment product that measures a student’s existing knowledge, comprehension and mastery of basic skills in reading and mathematics in grades 1-8. This major new product family was developed in a three-way partnership with Metametrics, Inc., Durham, North Carolina and GL Assessment, Ltd., London, UK.
This online assessment capability is calibrated with the Lexile(R) and Quantile(R) Frameworks, which are aligned with state standards and objectives. Test outcomes are processed by GL Assessment’s global server facilities and results are immediately available to educators who can utilize students’ scores to provide them with appropriate reading and mathematics instructional materials and forecast how they will perform on Lexile- and Quantile-aligned tests. Teachers who use AEC’s A+nyWhere Learning System(R) can automatically prescribe interventions from A+ LearningLink and monitor student progress throughout the school year in the integral database and reporting capabilities. Currently, 75 A+nyWhere Learning System courseware titles have Lexile measures and more than 240 mathematics lessons have Quantile measures.
In commenting on this development, Tom Shively, President and Chief Operating Officer, states: “We are excited about this major release as it brings a host of new assessment tools and capabilities to our existing and new customers. Because students’ results are reported on the same Lexile and Quantile scales used by many state and national assessments, educators can better gauge if intervention programs are moving students toward meeting rigorous AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) objectives. In addition, these important assessment capabilities are integrated into one of the industry’s major courseware offerings, providing a seamless solution to assess, immediately inform and instruct in one comprehensive solution. We believe that the A+nyWhere Learning System courseware and A+ LearningLink provide an unbeatable solution and will provide significant additional momentum for this company’s future growth.”
