EDW Powerhouse and POS Data Integration Leader Join Forces for Demand Signal Repository Solution

Relational Solutions, a software and service company specializing in POS data integration, and Teradata Corporation (NYSE: TDC), the leader in enterprise data warehousing, announced today they have formed a partnership to provide an enterprise demand signal repository (DSR) solution to assist consumer goods companies in delivering the right inventory at the right time to retailers.

Consumer products companies, high-tech and life sciences companies are learning to use DSRs to discover previously unknown patterns in consumer demand, multi-channel inventory sell-through, promotion optimization and overall product profitability.

The Relational Solutions flagship product POSmart is the leading multi-retailer solution that automates the integration and harmonization of POS data with internal data. Version 5.5, announced in February, includes a POS Manager to simplify and streamline the management of POS data. Users can now easily reorganize items into different categories, view statistics on issues such as rejected products, manage duplicates, back data out, edit attributes such as store and item information, and more. POSmart features built-in analytics specifically designed for consumer products companies for analysis of promotions, customer demographics, store cluster, sales trending, profit and revenue. Both POSmart and the Relational Solutions Blue Sky Portal feature dynamic reporting capabilities where users can create customized reports. Report information can be represented graphically and exported in a choice of Microsoft formats.

“Teradata and POSmart offer our customers a highly scalable demand signal repository. The combined solution integrates downstream retailer POS data and harmonizes with internal enterprise resource planning and third-party syndicated data that can be leveraged across all business units,” said Rob York, president of Relational Solutions. “Our joint customers will gain high business value by eliminating store level stock-outs and optimizing inventory right down to the store shelf.”

Relational Solutions is already working to optimize POSmart for Teradata. Teradata provides a single application-neutral repository for an enterprise’s current and historical data, the robust analytics and infrastructure to create an enterprise view of multiple customer POS streams integrated with rich internal data sources.

“The Teradata and Relational Solutions partnership provides our customers complete visibility to all relevant detailed information for making strategic and tactical business decisions regarding in-store inventory, product assortment and related issues,” said Keith Henry, vice president for manufacturing global industry solutions for Teradata.
