Powerwave’s Universal WiMAX Digital Radio Head Named ‘Finalist’ For CTIA Wireless 2008(R) E-Tech Award

Powerwave Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:PWAV), a global supplier of wireless solutions, announced today that its Universal WiMAX Digital Radio Head (DRH) has been named a finalist in the Third Annual CTIA Emerging Technology (E-Tech) Awards.

Held in conjunction with CTIA Wireless 2008(R), the industry’s premier wireless conference and exhibition, slated to take place April 1-3, in Las Vegas, the E-Tech Awards program gives industry recognition and acknowledges the best wireless products and services in the areas of Mobile CE (consumer electronics); Consumer Mobile Applications; Enterprise Solutions; Network Infrastructure; Mobile Widgets; and 4G.

Powerwave’s offering was selected as a finalist from a field of nearly three hundred submissions from both established and emerging companies. Product entries were reviewed and judged based on innovation, creativity and vision by a panel of industry analysts, media and technology experts. Products designated as finalists for the awards will be displayed at the show, where attendees will have an opportunity to vote for the best products in each category.

Powerwave’s Universal WiMAX DRH is an IEEE 802.16e wireless transceiver offering multi-carrier operation and class-leading efficiency, while delivering twice the output power of competitive solutions. Featuring a flexible CPRI interface, it offers up to 20 MHz of instantaneous, multi-carrier operation, with built-in flexibility that allows key parameters, such as channel bandwidth, output power and TDD ratios to be modified, without firmware upgrades.

“Our universal WiMAX digital radio head exemplifies Powerwave’s leadership in the development of next-generation hardware, software and services that are designed to reduce capital and operating expenditures, and increase wireless networks performance for operators and OEMs,” said Khurram Sheikh, Chief Product and Development Officer, Powerwave Technologies.

“Powerwave is pleased to be recognized as a finalist in this year’s CTIA E-Tech Awards,” said Ronald J. Buschur, President and Chief Executive Officer, Powerwave Technologies. “We are committed to supporting our valued customers around the globe in the deployment of state-of-the-art wireless coverage and capacity solutions. Having our Universal WiMAX Digital Radio Head recognized as one of the best wireless network infrastructure products helps to validate that we are meeting these objectives.”

Winning products will be announced at the E-Tech Award Ceremony, which will take place on the Fashion in Motion stage in the Mobile Entertainment eXpo pavilion of the Las Vegas Convention Center on Wednesday, April 2 at 3 p.m. PT.
