“Our participation in Continua Health Alliance and the Bluetooth SIG Medical Devices Working Group demonstrates our commitment to expanding the role of Bluetooth technology in the medical and health care industries,” said Tim Reilly, president and founder of Stonestreet One. “We anticipate that our currently available Bluetooth Health Device Profile and future Bluetooth Low Energy solutions will be widely used in wireless health and wellness devices.”
Bluetooth Low Energy wireless technology is a new extension of Bluetooth technology that paves the way to a new market for watches, remote control devices, and health care and sports sensors. These implementations consume minimal power, offer long-lasting connectivity, and dramatically extend the range of potential applications as an improved link between small sensor type devices and mobile devices.
Bluetopia+LE is Stonestreet One’s new protocol stack that will support dual and single mode Bluetooth Low Energy devices. Bluetopia+LE will be available upon adoption of the complete Bluetooth Low Energy specification.
Stonestreet One is a global leader that provides embedded software solutions for Bluetooth wireless technology. In addition to Bluetopia®+LE, the company’s core products include Bluetopia®, a full-featured Bluetooth protocol stack which has been deployed by many original equipment manufacturers and is currently shipping in millions of enterprise and consumer devices today, and BTExplorer, a powerful and user-friendly Bluetooth application for Windows CE and Windows Mobile based devices.
“Continua is delighted that Stonestreet One has joined our alliance as a contributing member. As our membership continues to grow with companies and organizations joining together, it is the collaborative efforts of Continua members like Stonestreet One that fuels the increasing momentum of the personal connected health industry and helps to create interoperable devices,” stated Chuck Parker, executive director of Continua Health Alliance.
In addition to its Continua Health Alliance membership, Stonestreet One is an associate member of the Bluetooth SIG, serving on the Medical Devices Working Group which develops specifications for medical, health care and fitness devices.
