Similar to RSS programs, dotCal enables organizations and individuals to share and publish a variety of calendar information that can be accessed across numerous consumer calendar platforms. dotCal is compatible with most calendar programs, including Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Apple iCal, Yahoo Calendar and Mozilla Thunderbird, as well as many mobile calendars, including the iPhone. Individual subscriptions are free, with monthly business and nonprofit subscriptions starting at $29.
Publicizing Pioneer Courthouse Square Events
“The dotCal platform makes it incredibly simple for our staff to update the Pioneer Courthouse Square online calendar with upcoming events and other information,” said Kellie Perez, marketing and communications manager for Pioneer Courthouse Square. “Additionally, it’s extremely helpful that once someone subscribes to our shared calendar, they’re kept abreast on all of our events by simply opting in and then viewing it from their own calendar system. dotCal is a new marketing channel, helping us to keep in constant communication with our supporters.”
“dotCal is pleased to be working with such reputable nonprofits,” said founder and CEO, Danton Mendell. “We are confident that, through the use of our calendar sharing technology, each of these organizations will be better able to communicate key events and other details to its supporters, thus increasing attendance, communication, and fundraising capabilities.”
Parent company Neutral Space launched a beta version of dotCal in late 2009. Beta testers included Mt. Hood Skibowl , The Dundee Hills Wine Growers Association , Stoller Vineyards , Domaine Serene , and Fenouil Restaurant in Portland, Ore. To date, more than 50 businesses are using dotCal to manage and communicate event and other time-centric information online with their customers.
