International CTIA WIRELESS 2010 Launches Apps World to Advance Innovation in Mobile Applications

With the mobile applications market slated to top $25 billion by 2014, according to Juniper Research, International CTIA WIRELESS 2010 ® has launched Apps World—a comprehensive mobile application marketplace for thousands of developers, carriers, manufacturers, app stores and buyers. Apps World will feature exhibits, hands-on programming, demos and networking opportunities. International CTIA WIRELESS will take place March 23-25 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, and pre-conference seminars will begin on March 22.

Inside CTIA Apps World, the Mobile Apps Pavilion will be comprised of companies demonstrating the newest mobile content and platforms, social networking and application delivery solutions. Several exhibitors—including Samsung, Blackberry and Palm—have expanded their presence beyond their traditional booths into Apps World, where they will offer customized experiences for developers. In addition, CTIA has organized a variety of learning centers to appeal to and foster innovation among the developer community, including:

  • The Blackberry Developer Program – a series of breakout sessions covering topics from technical insights to commercial expertise;
  • Developer Pitch Sessions presented by Open Mobile Solutions – an opportunity for selected companies to present their big ideas to a distinguished panel of mobile industry experts in three areas: raising money, gaining distribution and monetization;
  • Developers Clubhouse – a dedicated lounge where developers can network, conduct impromptu meetings and recharge throughout the show;
  • Mobile {Dev}Sync provided by Lucid Communications – a speed dating experience where developers will interact with a variety of platforms and programs. Part of each day will be dedicated to brief educational sessions for developers and Q&A with mobile experts;
  • Mobile Monday Seattle Pavilion – a launch pad for collaborating and networking with wireless industry professionals.

“CTIA Shows have featured apps for several years, and as the business of applications continues to expand, Apps World will provide a single location to bring all components of the apps community together to facilitate education and accelerate innovation,” said Rob Mesirow, vice president and show director for International CTIA WIRELESS. “Mobile applications will continue to transform the way we interact with our devices, and with each other. Apps World is about showcasing and facilitating this revolution.”

This year’s show will also offer a CTIA education track devoted to “Applications Driving Mobile Innovation & Partnerships,” and several partner seminars focused on the mobile applications market, including “Mobile Web & Apps World Forum;” “WIP Mobile Jam Session;” and “Mobile Imaging 2.0: How Camera Phones are Changing Everything.” For more information on conference sessions at International CTIA WIRELESS 2010, please visit: www.ctiawireless.com .
