TeamViewer, a leader in desktop sharing and online collaboration software, today announced a strategic partnership with TP Vision. TP Vision engages in developing, manufacturing and marketing Philips branded TV sets. The partnership is ground breaking for both parties: TeamViewer will tap into the smart TV domain whilst Philips will tremendously increase its brand image and increase customer loyalty accordingly. This will strengthen the company’s position in an extremely competitive market.
Philips relies on Android TV to provide the software platform for its Android TV sets. TeamViewer is able to supply its Android QuickSupport app to be integrated seamlessly into Philips’ smart TV systems. The QuickSupport app will therefore be preinstalled on all Philips Android TV based television sets, thereby enabling real time screen sharing and remote control.
This approach gives Philips customers a whole new user-friendly TV support experience. User benefits include:
- Remote Support Availability – Because the TeamViewer QuickSupport app comes preinstalled on all Philips Android TVs, support can now be provided quickly when a problem occurs
- Convenience – The integration makes it possible for users to receive support with minimal interruption to their enjoyment TV experience
- Flexible use – Users can easily use the remote control options of the TeamViewer QuickSupport app from a different location to remotely control the activities in their living room. For example, to set up TV programs for their children or to remotely trigger the recording of a TV broadcast
“We find that many issues with smart TVs stem from faulty system settings. Yet many users may blame these errors on the brand and then stay away from it all together,” said David Kou, General Manager at TP Vision. “This is no longer a vital threat to us because these cases can now be handled and resolved remotely within minutes. This will significantly promote our brand image and help us strengthen customer loyalty. But there is an even more tangible effect: these minor support cases incur immense expenses for shipping and handling, which is now no longer necessary.”
“We are thrilled to be a remote support pioneer in the smart TV world,” commented Andreas König, CEO at TeamViewer. “This is obviously a new, and evolving market segment for us, but one with great potential. Not only will this increase our reach and brand awareness, it also demonstrates that we work hard to enable remote support on a multitude of platforms, operating systems, and applications. This pioneering drive is what makes TeamViewer stand out from the pack.”
